Consequently, economic, industrial, and political interests between the two countries in global issues such as U.S.-China trade investment and climate change have multiplied remarkably. In this context, RIETI has invited Professor Harry Harding of The George Washington University, a leading expert in the field of U.S.-China relations who will present the findings of the 3rd annual report of the China Task Force, a joint effort of the Eurasia Group and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). The China Task Force was created in 2005 to assess the risks associated with possible developments in China between 2006 and 2015. Its mission was to address both risks to China as it grapples with the consequences of rapid economic and social change, and also challenges and opportunities that China might present to the international community over that 10-year period. The presentation will be followed by a roundtable discussion with participants to include RIETI researchers and METI policymakers.
